The birth of the “Deep State” and an economy based on war began on July 20, 1944 with the rigged nomination of Harry S. Truman, a “machine politician” from Missouri who replaced Franklin D. Roosevelt’s choice, Vice President Henry A. Wallace at the Democratic convention in Chicago in 1944.
This changed the direction of US foreign policy from Wallace’s vision of global cooperation and prosperity for “the common man” to US military imperialism “leaving a trail of blood running through defenseless countries bombed, their governments overthrown, their elections interfered with, and their resources plundered in service of preserving America’s unchallenged psychopathic view of itself as the richest, most successful, most ‘indispensable’ nation.” —John Pilger
In 1945 US war planners cynically decided to demonize Russia—our ally during WWII which did 80% of the fighting, liberated Berlin, and suffered 27 million casualties compared to ½ million US casualties—into a perpetual enemy to prevent Russia from participating in the political and economic structure of Europe, and to justify funding and expanding our military to encircle the world with over 800 military bases to achieve "Full spectrum dominence".
From the infamous "House of Un-American Activities" to the Hillary Clinton conceived and paid for false claims of of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, this McCarthyite foreign policy has never ended, and every war from Vietnam to Ukraine is a result of this psychopathic brand of "foreign policy" at the expense of world peace and the welfare and prosperity of American citizens.
It’s responsible for the US preventing Russia from being integrated into Europe after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, and then expanding NATO to Russia’s borders after Secretary of State James Baker under President George H. W. Bush promised Mikhail Gorbachev that if Russia dissolved the Warsaw Pact and allowed the reunification of Berlin, NATO would not move “one inch east of Berlin”. This well-documented broken promise, and NATO’s continuing expansion to Russia’s borders ultimately led to the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, placing the world to the brink of a nuclear holocaust.
The video below produced by Oliver Stone and Peter Kuznick explains how America—and the world— lost a brighter future that was within its grasp by just 9 seconds.
Truman, a political hack, was appointed to run for the Senate in 1934 by Missouri party boss, Tom Pendergast, to “show the world that a well-oiled machine could even get an office clerk elected to the Senate.”
The Truman Doctrine is an American foreign policy that pledged American "support for democracies against authoritarian threats." The doctrine originated with the goal of containing Soviet geopolitical expansion during the Cold War. It was announced to Congress by President Harry S. Truman on March 12, 1947, and further developed on July 4, 1948, when he pledged to contain the communist uprisings in Greece and Turkey. —Wikipedia
It was Truman who authorized the first and only use of nuclear weapons on Hiroshima and Nagasaki which incinerated over 226,000 people, most of whom were civilians, when Japan was about to to surrender after Russia announced it was going to join the US invasion of Japan. The day after Hiroshima was obliterated, President Harry Truman voiced his satisfaction with the “overwhelming success of “the experiment”.
“The atom bomb was no 'great decision.' It was merely another powerful weapon in the arsenal of righteousness.” —Harry S. Truman
Truman created the Central Intelligence Group by a presidential directive on January 22, 1946, and this group was transformed into the Central Intelligence Agency by implementation of the National Security Act of 1947. Many books have been written documenting CIA’s murderous criminal conduct throughout the world by fomenting wars based on lies and coup d’états of democratically elected governments that continues to this day.
Ex-CIA director Pompeo: “We lied, we cheated, we stole”
The postwar anti-communist push began in earnest in 1947 after Truman mandated a “loyalty oath” for all federal employees. As a result, the political beliefs of two million people were investigated, with authorities attempting to determine whether they belonged to any “subversive” political organizations. Those in positions of influence were most aggressively investigated leading to purges of academics, intellectuals, and journalists who challenged their imperialist agenda. Celebrated individuals from the world of entertainment including actors Charlie Chaplain and Orson Welles, had their careers destroyed.
The US military budget now consumes more than half of US discretionary spending, which in turn precludes funding a national healthcare system and tuition-free university education that citizens of our European allies and other countries enjoy.
With the deindustrialization of US manufacturing by NAFTA and other trade agreements under the Bill Clinton administration, our economy is now based largely on permanent war. Russia is our perpetual enemy, and a permanent state of war has become normalized.
It was Truman who laid the foundation for the military-industrial-congressional-media complex (the “Deep State”) that controls both our domestic and foreign policy, and we’re living with the dire consequences of his devastating tenure to this day.
The "national security state" Truman created effectively nullifies virtually all the rights and protections guaranteed in the US constitution and has become the de facto US government, regardless of which administration is in power.
“Foreign policy is domestic Policy.” —Former Representative Tulsi Gabbard.
With the US-backed and funded coup of the democratically elected government in Ukraine in 2014, and the installization of an extreme right-wing anti-Russian administration, we are now closer to the possibility of worldwide nuclear annihilation in the history of mankind as a result of the anti-democratic, imperialist foreign policy created by Harry S. Truman, and embraced by every subsequent US administration regardless of party.
To paraphrase “The Godfather”, “It was Truman all along”.
THANK YOU !!!!
DORE ’24 has a nice ring to it !!
Very correct about Truman. The American people loved Henry Wallace who really would have been t
"The People's President" and not drop to A-Bombs to show the Soviets our newest "weapon of Mass Destruction" and we had no intention of splitting up Japan with them like the deal made after the "superman" (my moniker) in Europe was defeated.
